To The Family: I am sorry for your loss. Losing a loved one in death is so very hard to deal with. The Bible’s message of a resurrection to life on a peaceful earth gives comfort and hope that we will see our loved ones again. (Acts 25:15, Rev 21: 4, Psalm 37:11) Please accept my sincere condolences.

I am so sorry for your loss. Mrs. Severt was my science teacher for two years at Baileysville High School. She always spoke about her family and told stories. She was a wonderful woman and I considered her a second Mom at Baileysville and Westside. She was an active teacher and believed that in order to reach the children she taught, she needed to be a friend. She knew my potential and pushed me to not settle for a good grade. She wanted me to go beyond succeeding! At the time, I didn't appreciate it (like most kids). I wish I could have told her that I too went to Concord and graduated with honors and I owe her thanks for that push!

Mrs. Severt was my teacher in the 6th and 7th grades at Pineville Middle School in the early 1990s. I had her for science, art, and PE, and I always remember her vibrant, positive attitude. I thought she was an excellent teacher, and I respected her tremendously. She would even have a smile on her face while she was handing down some hard discipline!!! I saw her earlier this year at Bodyworks, and I thought she looked fantastic. As always, she had a huge smile on her face throughout our conversation. We caught up on events since I had her as a teacher, and I thanked her for her time as an educator. She cared for her students. She was tough but compassionate at the same time. I am saddened to hear of her passing, and my thoughts and prayers are with her family and anybody who knew her. I still remember several square dances from PE class, and I have Mrs. Severt to thank for it!!!! I would also like to thank her for not failing me on my horrible clay whistle that we had to make in art class. As horrible as it looked, she tried her best to compliment me. God bless.

Im so sorry for your loss. I will keep your family in my prayers. Mrs. Severt was my P.E. teacher at Pineville Jr High. I have alot of fond memories from those days, of dodge ball, & sqaure dancing. She was always there when you needed someone to listen, and she would help you in any way she could. She always tried to look out for us all. If she thought we were up to no good, she would ask us about it! LOL She always wanted the best for her students. I will never forget her.

I am deeply saddened of Shelma’s death, and I would like to express my sincere sympathy to the Severt family. Shelma was highly respected by the students, faculty, and staff at Independence Middle School and throughout the entire educational community. She was regarded as a visionary leader by her students and the Independence faculty.
Please accept my heartfelt condolences at this difficult time. Shelma was a remarkable colleague. Although I only worked with her for one year, I am well aware of the difference she made in the lives of many people. Her contributions to Independence Middle School will not be forgotten. We will miss her greatly.
With sincere sympathy,
Gary Newberry

Mrs. Severt was my home-economics teacher at Baileysville High School. She was such a sweet person and was very compassionate towards me when my parents separated. Not only was she an amazing teacher, she was a great friend, mentor, inspiration. May God be with your family during this difficult time.

I am so very sorry to hear about Mrs. Severt. She taught us at Pineville Middle for PE, back in the 90's.Actually she was pregnant with one of her kids, i cannot remember if it was the boy or girl.
I had seen her about 1 1/2 ago when i was still working at JcPenney's, she looked so good and happy, she told me that she went to Saulsville Baptist and wanted me to come one Sunday, because i live in Saulsville. So, you could tell that she was right with the Lord. You all need to stay strong and God will help you through this.
She will definately be missed
