Remembering Emma...
Lisa Swatzyna asked me how I met Emma the day of the funeral. I said, "Oh at the court house, I guess." I got to thinking about that later in the day after the funeral. That's not how we met. We met back in 1980, on a rafting trip down the New River. I had some friends at Beckley Hospital and they invited me to go rafting. When I got there that morning and got on the bus, who did I sit down beside? this (at the time it seemed) an older lady, she introduced herself as Emma. We became fast friends from that day forward. We had the most fun that day, even when our raft overturned. I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for Emma Swatzyna. Always full of life!

To Emma's family: Both Connie & I send you our love and sympathy on your loss. I was a good friend of Emma when we were in Catholic Daughters many years ago and when she was working at the court house. We exchanged family news and she always had a few jokes to share. She was a good person and I will miss her.

Randy, Sorry to hear of your mom's passing. I'm certain your are the R.S. that I worked with many years ago at Carbon Fuel & I read of your mothers passing while reading about Vernon Morgan and this same site. I believe I was working in engineering at the time. Again, please accept my sympathy.

To Randy and family....(from Terri Ritchie-Brown... your High-school classmate) I just learned of your mom's passing and wanted to extend my deepest sympathy in the loss of your mom--your mom and I worked together at Beckley Hospital for a few yrs--she was more than a co/worker...she was a friend...as I had just completed nursing school when I met your mom(affectionately known to me as Swatzy)...she took me under her wings--I will never forget her kind- gentle-loving spirit....May you find solace in your fond memories....God Bless....Terri Ritchie-Brown
