Sanger, Adina Hettie

February 26, 1920 - August 20, 2010

Adina (Whitenack) Sanger, Fort Myers, Florida, formerly of Crab Orchard & Beckley, West Virginia died Friday August 20, 2010. Born at Hotchkiss, WV February 26, 1920, she was the daughter of the late James and Sarah (Pendry) Whitenack. She graduated from Morris Harvey (The University of Charleston). She did graduate work at Marshall University and Bowie State College in Maryland. Mrs. Sanger taught school in West Virginia and Maryland and retired as a School Guidance Counselor. She was a member of the National Educator Association in Maryland, Maryland State Counselor Association, Prince George’s County Counselor Association and she was an Honorary National Member of the United Mine Workers Association. Mrs. Sanger spent most of her life in Raleigh County and was a member of the Sprague Freewill Baptist Church, Sprague WV. She was preceded in death, after 56 years of marriage, by her husband Reverend Robert Sanger; brothers Boyd and Basil Whitenack and sisters Viva (Whitenack) Milam and Zita (Whitenack) Canaday. Survivors include two brothers Garmon (Janice) Whitenack of Gloucester Point, VA and Marvin (Flora) Whitenack of Chase MD; two daughters: Claudia Bradbury and Eva (David) Penezic of Fort Myers, Florida; three Grandchildren: Debra (Bill) Hagn, Teresa (Don) Murray and Robert (Jennifer) Penezic and by four great grandchildren, Christopher Propst, Billy Hagn, Charlotte and Ryan Penezic. Visitation will be in the Melton Mortuary Chapel Tuesday, August 24, 2010 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM; followed by burial service in Mausoleum B, Sunset Memorial Park, at 2:30 PM. Officiating will be the Reverend Fred Lovell of the Sprague Freewill Baptist Church.
