On Friday, August 27th, 2010 our beloved, Martin Lee Miller Sr. of Oak Hill died at Raleigh General Hospital following a long illness. He was 60 years of age. Martin was born on August 10, 1950 in Beckley. He was the son of the late Robert Miller and Susie Dickens Miller Williams. Martin’s father died at a very young age, he was fortunate for his mother to marry Henry Williams who would raise him. Living in Oak Hill the past two years, he was a long time resident of Beckley. A retired truck driver, Martin was of the Christian faith. A veteran of the US Army, he served in the Vietnam War. He enjoyed local politics. Martin Miller enjoyed his family. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 34 years. Janie Claypool Miller. The dear father of seven children, sons, John and Charles Miller both died in 2008. He was “Dad” to Martha , Elvis and Martin Miller Jr., all of Salisbury, NC and Susie and Chris Elder of Mt. Hope and Robert Miller of St. Mary’s GA; the doting “Paw Paw’ of Ashley, Christopher, Christian, Cara, John, Keiyra, Cordell, Desirae, Ray, Annie, Devin, Ma-lisa, Gage, Gavin, Steven, Cory, Destiny, Peyton, Serenity, Gwen, Makenzey, Ma-lik, and Kaitlynn, two more grandchildren are yet to be born; Martin was also blessed with a great grandchild, Zachary. Martin is also survived by a large extended family. Funeral services will be Thursday, September 2nd, at 1:00 p.m. at the Melton Mortuary Chapel. The Rev. Hoy Fitzwater will be officiating. The family will receive friends from noon until the hour of the services. On Friday, Martin will be taken to the West Virginia National Cemetery at Grafton where he will be buried with full military honors at 1:00 p.m.
