December 05, 1946 - September 08, 2010
In the early morning hours of Wednesday, September 8th, 2010 our most loved Gayle Ross of Wandering Lane, Beaver passed away at the Bowers Hospice House. She was 63 years of age.
Named after her father, Kerma Gayle Alley was born on December 5th, 1946 in Beckley. The second of three daughters, her parents were the late Kermit and Pauline Arnold Alley. Her sister, Teresa Elaine Sagel died in December of 2009.
Gayle, as she was affectionately know all her life grew up in Beckley on Porter Street. She was a 1964 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. After high school Gayle enrolled at the Little French Beauty Academy in Bluefield where she was training to be a hairdresser. While living in Bluefield, she met a Bluefield boy, Richard Conner Ross. Gayle and Richard have celebrated 44 wonderful years of marriage.
Richard’s work with the Rish Equipment Company took him and Gayle to many different places to live; they eventually settled in Marietta Georgia where they resided for 16 years. Gayle loved her home and the Marietta area. Family ties brought them back to Raleigh County in 1993 where they settled on Wandering Lane. Gayle enjoyed being a homemaker. In her leisure time, she liked to needle point and paint in oil.
In addition to Richard, Gayle is survived by her loving sister, Beverly Jo Lytton of Mooresville, NC; she was the dear aunt of nephews, Robby, Scott and Greg Lytton and JJ Sagel.
On Saturday, September 11th, at 11:00 a.m. we will remember the life of Gayle with a Service of Remembrance at the Melton Mortuary Chapel at 1200 Harper Road, Beckley. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service.
