On Friday, September 3, 2010 our beloved Steven Walker Sanders of Sparta TN, formerly of Mabscott died following a short illness. He was 58 years of age. Steven was born on November 8, 1951 at Richwood, the son of the late Ronald and Maxine Campbell Sanders. “Steve” as he was affectionately known all his life spent his childhood on North Hill Street in Mabscott. He was a 1970 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and a veteran of the US Air Force. He was employed by the State of Tennessee as a corrections officer for 28 years. An expert marksman, he was an award winning songwriter. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Janet Wilhite Sanders, his daughters, Jessica Harris, Trisha Young and Brandi Rice all of the Tennessee area. Four grandchildren also survive. Steven was the fond brother of Rick Sanders of Knoxville, TN, Patricia McKenzie of Richwood and Rhonda Lilley of Beckley. At the end of the day, Steven will be remembered for his gentle and kind-hearted nature. Steven’s wake and funeral services were held the weekend of September 4-5 in Sparta.
