In the early hours of Sunday morning, October 31st, 2010 our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt, Macie Shrewsbury of the Josephine Community passed away at the Raleigh Center following a long illness. She was in her 86th year. Macie Virginia Bolen was the first of seven children born to the late Jim and Elsie Pearl Shrewsbury Bolen. Born on March 6th, 1924 at Van Wood, West Virginia, her sister, Marcell and brothers, Quincy and Orlen have preceded her in death. Macie was a lifelong resident of the Josephine community. A homemaker, she loved to cook and work in her garden. On October 8, 1945 she married Coy Franklin Shrewsbury. Macie and Coy were married 64 years, nine months and 13 days before his passing on July 21st of this year. She leaves to cherish her memory her only child, a daughter, Barbara Ann Wyco, her son-in-law, Daniel “Pedro” Wyco died on September 30th, 1991. Macie was the precious grandmother of Daphne Brown and her husband Sam and the proud great grandmother of Samuel and Kylie Brown. She was the dear sister of Mary Archer and her husband John of Arcanum, OH, Lucille Meadows and Zinie Bolen and the fond sister-in-law of Naomi Bolen all of Josephine. Several nieces, nephews and neighbors also survive. Committal services will be Wednesday, November 3rd at 11:00 a.m. at the Jenny Cole Cemetery at Odd. The Rev. Damon Tucker will be officiating. There will be no visitation. Those wishing to attend the services are asked to meet at the cemetery by 11:00 a.m. “And now the laborer’s task is o’er. Now the battle day is past.
