Cochran, Archie

Archie V. Cochran, 85 of Lively, entered in to eternal rest on Thursday, January 12th, following a sudden illness at his home Born July 8, 1926, at Metalton, he was the eldest of ten children born to the late Clarence Edward and Edna Alice McCormick Cochran. Archie served his country during World War II and the Korean Conflict in the Army. He later enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and attained the rank of Master Sgt. before retiring after 26 years of service in 1971. He was preceded in death by two brothers, George Cochran and Clarence “Duke” Cochran, a sister, Virgie Ellen Terry, and an infant sister, Annie. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 55 years, Cora Irene McClung Cochran; a son, Gary of Lively, and daughters, Geraldine Ashby of Virginia and Cheryl Stover and her husband, Bobby of Lively; grandchildren, Danny Stover, Sharon King and her husband, Gary and Isaac Conley and his wife, Tanya; four great grandchildren, Derek Stover, Katelyn and Gary King and Evan. He will be sadly missed by sisters, Wanda Mitchell of Illinois, Mary Daniel of Beckley and brothers, Alfred of Maryland, Edward and Frank both of Beckley, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 17th at 1:00 pm at the Melton Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Doug Holley officiating. Burial will follow in the Calfee Cemetery at Mt. Tabor. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6 to 8pm at the mortuary and one hour prior to the services on Tuesday.
