Miller, Joseph Allen

December 12, 1978 - January 26, 2010

Matthew 11:28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest…” And so HE did on Tuesday, January 26th when our dear Joseph Allen Miller of Flat Top died in a Roanoke Virginia hospital following a long illness. He was 31 years of age. Joey, as he was affectionately known all his life, was born on December 12, 1978 in Beckley, the son of Mark White of Peoria, Illinois and Anna Sturgill and her companion, Terry Meadows of Flat Top. Joey had worked in construction. In addition to his parents, those left to cherish his memory are his sisters and brother, Jessica Parsons of Kegley, Christina Brown of Flat Top, Tiffany White of East Peoria, Il, Christa White of Sisson and Kenny White of Peoria; grandmothers, Ilene Miller of Flat Top and Betty Sturgill of Midway; his wonderful, beloved fiancé Tasha Allen of Princeton; seven nieces and four nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, January 30th at 2:00 pm in the Melton Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Rick Chester officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service. Burial will follow in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity. And so at the end of the day, when we remember our beloved Joey, we remember his love of music, he enjoyed going to hear his favorite bands, and most of all, he loved to spend time with his family. Sleep well. We loved you but God loved you even more.
