June 10, 1929 - February 24, 2010
Bobby G. Holcomb of Surry, Virginia passed away Wednesday, February 24th, 2010 after a long illness. A native of Clay County, he moved to Virginia in the early sixties. He was 80 years of age.
Bob served in the West Virginia National Guard and was a US Army Korean War Veteran. He retired from the Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company after thirty years. He was an active member of the New Harvest Christian Life Ministries in Surry and enjoyed helping in the church led ministries. Bob had a life-long love of cars and enjoyed reworking old ones.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Lawson and Anna M. Holcomb, and a sister, Mary Jo Thomas. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, D. Elizabeth Holcomb; two daughters, Fran Holcomb and Elizabeth Inge; two stepsons, Steve Hancock and Ran Hancock; three grandchildren, Ryan, Drew and Kaitlyn.
A funeral services will be held at the Melton Mortuary Chapel on Saturday, March 6th at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity. The family will receive friends from noon until the service hour.
