Born Wanda Irene Richmond on August 1, 1925 at Dry Hill, she was the first of five children born to the late Charles Elbert and Gersye Gladys Huffman Richmond. Her brother, Lewis Edwin Richmond preceded her in death.
Wanda was of the Christian faith. At the end of the day, when we remember Wanda Mays we recall a caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother. She was a wonderful cook. Her family will always recall her delicious meals. In addition to her parents and brother, Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, George Wriston Mays in 1990.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Judy Terry and her husband David of Sunny Acres; she was the doting “Granny” of Stacy Painter and her husband, Adam of Clear Brook, VA; the wonderful “Great Granny Wanda” of Sydney, Aiden who was born on Wanda’s birthday and Keagan all of Clear Brook; the fond sister of Elmo Richmond and his wife Diana of Gilboa, OH, Leola Wyant and her husband Eugene of Lima, OH, and Joyce Marts and her husband John Marts II of Harvey, VA; several nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
