Dakota Redden Obituary

Dakota Isaac Redden, 23 of Piney View, WV was suddenly taken from his mother, family, and friends on May 5, 2022 in a tragic 4 wheeler accident.

Born on November 10, 1998 in Beckley, WV, he was the son of Linda Athey Redden and the late James Russell Redden. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Paul Redden Sr., and Emogene Adkins Redden; maternal grandfather Lawrence “Buster” Athey; uncles Kenny Ray Redden, Marlon Redden, and Rodney Redden, and Aunts Jewell Redden, Cathy Redden, and Daisy Redden.

Dakota was raised attending the Fairdale Freewill Baptist Church but was currently attending Virginia Street Baptist Church with his girlfriend Kaylie Wooten.  The day before his death, Dakota spoke to Rev. Doug Holley proclaiming his salvation on the parking lot of the church. Dakota’s favorite scripture was Romans 1:16-17. He was not ashamed!

Dakota’s handsome smile and wonderful personality will be sadly missed by all who love him.  He had a way of making everyone laugh, bringing life and happiness to all family gatherings. His unconditional love and kindness were witnessed by so many friends. They could always count on him to help them through tough situations. He would always go the extra mile to help someone out. His main desire was to be able to make everyone happy.

Dakota’s passion was riding and working on 4-wheelers. He constantly had a 4-wheeler project going on. Parts and tools were always on hand in Mom’s living room.

His Mom and friends were so proud to see him get into the mining industry. He enjoyed working on the strip driving various trucks such as the 777 truck, D-7 dozer, D-9 dozer, D-10 dozer, 980 loader, 988 loader and also working in the plant. He was a hard worker and will be deeply missed by his coworkers and friends at Panther Creek Mining-Maple Eagle Mines.

Life will never be the same here without our precious Dakota. We ask that you remember his mother in your prayers as this is the toughest battle any mother could ever face.  Also remember Kaylie in her struggle through this as well.

Along with his mother and girlfriend, those left to cherish his memory are brothers Jimmy Redden and wife Vicki of Quinnimont, and Kevin Redden of Piney View; his maternal grandmother Joyce Athey of Glen Daniel, many aunts, uncles, and cousins who love him dearly and all of his buddies he hung out with and had a great time with.
