Jerry Wayne Reeves, 79, of Oak Hill was born on October 28, 1944, at Stanaford, West Virginia to his mother Virginia Reeves. He went to be with the Lord on April 6th, 2024, following a long illness at the Bowers Hospice House.
Jerry was a Volunteer Firefighter for over 30 years in Covington, Virginia. He was also as a painter and an over the road truck driver. He also had the opportunity to become the Big Dog for WJLS and wore the costume flawlessly. Jerry was honored to be a Deacon at the Southern Baptist Church in Covington, VA.
Jerry was preceded in death by his mother Virginia Reeves, maternal grandparents Hubert and Helen Buckland, sisters Charlotte Richard, Patricia Kerbay, and Reba Elmore, and his brother John Buckland.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife Katey Reeves of Oak Hill, sister Rebecca and her husband Danny Aldridge of Bradley, brother Troy Buckland and his wife Drema of Beckley, step children Wayne Baldwin of Pax and Eric Baldwin of Bradley, and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends all of whom will miss him.
A celebration of Jerry's life will be held and announced by the family at a later date. Melton Mortuary and Cremation Center has been entrusted with cremation arrangements and are honored to serve the family.
