Loraine Mae Baxter

Loraine Mae Baxter was born on July 8, 1936, in Clear Creek, WV to her parents Albert Vernon and Clara (Williams) Wriston. She went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at the age of 85.
Loraine is preceded in death by her late husband of 41 years, Leonard E. Baxter; parents Albert and Clara; sister Sylvia Pennington; son Roger L. Baxter; and her grandsons Timothy E. and Jeremy L. Baxter.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children Charles Baxter, Teddy Baxter, and Vanessa (David) Addington; grandchildren Cathy Godbey, Robert Forren, Vickie Browning, Allen and Brian Baxter; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers Earnest Keith Wriston and Keith Vernon Wriston; sister Anna-Mae Davis; and many extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.
Loraine was a homemaker who enjoyed taking care of her family and spending time outside tending to her flowers. In the early 2000’s she spent time as a member of the Pax City Council. She also loved attending her home church of Willis Branch Community prior to its demolition. One of her favorite things to do was playing BINGO with her daughter Vanessa.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, May 14, 2022, from 11 am – 1 pm with a funeral service at 1:00 pm at the Melton Mortuary and Cremation Center. Interment will follow at the Pax Cemetery with David Addington, Tyson Kincaid, Alex, Caleb, Nate, and Alan Baxter serving as pallbearers.
