Surrounded by his family, Billy Howard Bailey, age 92 of Beckley went home to be with the Lord on April 26th, 2019.
Born May 16th, 1926, in McDowell County, West Virginia, he was the son of Ance and Gertrude Goodman Bailey
He was a WWII Navy Veteran. Billy worked for US Steel in the cleaning plant until he retired in 1976. He was president of the UMWA Black Lung Association and recording secretary of the Local Union 7086. Billy was a member of the Faith Community Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Bailey Tate; brother, Herman I. Bailey; wife, Naomi Joann Lilly Bailey of 45 years; and a daughter, Beverly Ann Worthington Perez.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his children, Howard Bailey and his wife, Patsy of Princeton, Herman Bailey and his wife, Sherry of Fries, Virginia and Keith Bailey and his wife, Annette Sue of Beckley; grandchildren, Truman Worthington and wife, Tamlea, Cheryl Worthington, Megan Bailey Curry and husband, Chris, Rachel Bailey, Joanna Bailey Day and husband, Travis; great-grandchildren, TJ Worthington, Ciara Daniel, Travis Worthington, Aiden Keith Smith, Kirsten Curry, Ariel Curry, Caleb Bailey and Liam Day.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 30th at 1:00 pm in the Melton Mortuary Chapel. The burial will follow in the Oak Grove Christian Church cemetery. The family is receiving friends at 11:00 am on Tuesday at the mortuary.
