Dealrene Pettry passed peacefully on Sunday, October 27th, 2019 at her home here in Beckley. She was in her 95th year

The youngest of 12 children, Dealrene was born on October 25th, 1924 at Lively. She was the daughter of Phillip and Ella McGraw Miller.  Her siblings, Frank, Marion, Port, Henry, Joe, Carl, Phillip, Hester, Rosa Grace and Nonearl have preceded her in death as well.

Dealrene spent her childhood at Lively where her family worshiped at Laurel Grove Baptist Church.   She attended Pax High School.   She would marry Ray Lunsford, a career serviceman who served in the US Army for 37 years.  They were the parents of two daughters, Joan and Rita.   Joan passed in 1959, Ray died in 1992 and Rita Lunsford Kerns in 2012.   Dealrene would remarry to Clyde Pettry who has also preceded her in death.

Survivors include her granddaughters, Tammy Kerns of Beckley and Amy Sowers and her husband, David of Virginia Beach; a great grandson, Alexander; son-in-law, Bill Kerns and his wife, Rachel.    There is a large extended family, among them her niece and caregiver, Loretta Elmore and her husband, Joe and a dear friend, Rita Pettry.

Funeral services will Thursday, October 31st at 1:00 pm in the Melton Mortuary Chapel.   Pastor Gary Williams will be officiating.   The burial will follow in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum at Prosperity.   The family is receiving friends at 12 noon
