Dixie Walser Obituary

Dixie Sizemore Walser, 82, of Crab Orchard, WV, went to meet her Lord and Savior September 10, 2019, from a long struggle from Alzheimers/Dementia at The Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV.

She was preceded in death by her parents David C. Sizemore and Eapher Williams Sizemore of Beckley, and sister Patricia Sizemore Marshall of Camarillo, CA.  She is survived by sister; Sue Chaskelis and husband, Henry of South Carolina, brother; David A Sizemore and wife, Mary, of North Carolina, her three children; Lori Walser-Porter of Crab Orchard, Erica Walser of Greensboro, NC, and son, Kristoffer and his wife, Hillary, of Greensboro, NC; 5 grand-children, Amanda Lippard and husband, Jason, of Charlotte, NC, Megan Porter and her fiancee, Shae Bays, of Tornado, WV, Eric Jackson of Greensboro, NC, Olivia Porter of Crab Orchard, WV, and Abby Jackson of Alabama; 4 great-grandchildren, Payton, Paxton, Gunnar, and Aiden; and several nieces and nephews.

Dixie was born in English, WV May 23, 1937.  Her childhood was spent in the Coal Fields of Southern WV and was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, Class of 1955 and then attended Marshall University.  She then moved to NC where she married and lived until 1983 when she returned to Beckley to until her passing.

Dixie worked at the Burlington House in Prosperity and the Women's Resource Center of Raleigh County.  She enjoyed music, playing the piano, baking, and cake decorating.

Family will be gathering at Lori's home on Friday September 20, 2019.

Services will be held at The First United Methodist Church, 217 South Heber Street, Beckley, WV at 12:00 PM Saturday, September 21, 2019.  Family and friends will gather in the church fellowship hall following the services.
