With sadness and love the family of Donald Andrew Blevins announces his passing on May 20, 2019.
Donald was born September 15, 1958, in Beckley, WV to Peggy Anne Hope of Ghent and the late Paul Fredrick Blevins. Raised in Midway, WV, Donald enjoyed fishing, camping, NASCAR. College football, basketball, and hanging out with his family and friends. He worked as a coal miner and later in the steel construction industry until disabled in 1993 from a traumatic fall. He fought and recovered, going on to become the “go to guy” for his family and friends anytime help was needed. Later in life, Donald found pleasure in feeding birds, becoming an expert in knowing the names.
Donald was preceded in death by; his father and his youngest sister, Paula Anne Blevins, his niece Cara Beth Blevins, grandparents Bill and Mabel Hope, and Vance and Nellie Blevins.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Katherine Anne (Michael) Avant, Jack Andrew Blevins, his grandchildren, Jennifer Avant, Addyson, Jack and Caleb Blevins. Also, his sisters, Patricia Klaus and Jennifer (David) Hatch and his brother, Ronald (Donna) Blevins. And his many other family and friends.
Donald had a big heart and never met a stranger. He loved dogs and helped with the care of his family’s pets in time of need. He loved the occasional stray or befriending his neighbors’ pets. He enjoyed their visits and seeing their photos.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 P.M., Saturday, May 25, 2019, at the Melton Mortuary Chapel in Beckley with pastor Rick Walker officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until the time of service on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations of sympathy made to hsrcwv.org or multiplesystematrophy.org.
The family wishes to thank his many caregivers with a special thank you to Joann Cooper for her care and kindness.
