Fred Autrey Ritch Jr.

Fred Autrey Ritch Jr. of Beckley earned his wings on his 80th birthday January 17, 2020.  He passed at Bowers Hospice House after a long illness. Autrey was born in McAlpin, WV and grew up at Cool Ridge, WV. He was the son of the late Madeline Love Ritch and Frederick Autrey Ritch Sr.

In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his sister Freida Ritch Burns and a nephew William Autrey Burns.  He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Brenda Elkins Ritch and children Dennis Ritch and wife Kim of Pearisburg VA, Darren Ritch and wife Carla of Boones Mill, VA and Angela Ritch of Beckley.  Grandchildren Olivia and Braden, step-granddaughters Brittney and Alaina, step-great grandchildren Savannah and Mason.  Autrey will also be lovingly remembered by several cousins and extended family in Alabama.

Autrey graduated with the 1957 class of Shady Spring High School and earned a BS degree in agriculture from WVU and went to work with Southern States Cooperative in various cities.  He and his family owned F & R supply in Hinton for 29 years.  He retired from the WV State Tax Department as an industrial appraiser. 

A memorial service will be held Monday, January 20th at 2:00 with visitation one-hour prior with Pastor Steven Beverly officiating.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bowers Hospice House at 454 Cranberry Drive Beckley, WV 25801.
