Garland Harless Garris, 75, of Eccles WV, passed away Tuesday October 15th, 2019 following a long illness. Born in Crab Orchard, WV, December 19, 1943, he was the son of the late John Garris and Rosie Farmer Garris. Garland was a coal miner for 33 years, was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle and brother-in-law. Garland was a hardworking, honest person who touched the lives of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. In addition to his parents, Garland was preceded in death by brothers, James Lewis, Richard Harry and Elmer Harvey Garris, sister Barbara Lou Garris Bowles and his loving wife of 49 years, Diana Delores Garris.
He is survived by three children, Edith Rosanne (Rose) Powers, her husband Ray, and their daughter Emma; Christina Louise Garris; Garland Wayne Garris, his wife Cheryl, and their daughters Megan and Bethany; sister Lula M. Cernuto and husband Charles (Nunz) of Beckley; brothers Lonnie Garris and companion B.J. of Oak Hill, Lawrence Garris and wife Pat of Soak Creek, Lee Garris of Soak Creek, Larry Garris of Beckley, Raymond Garris and wife Lucille of Green Valley; brother-in-law Carl Camden and Wife Kay Camden of Lynchburg VA, brother-in-law Roy Camden and Wife Betty of Anawalt WV, sister-in-law Betty Camden of Flint Michigan, sister-in-law Gloria Camden of Lynchburg VA, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 PM., Saturday, October 19th at Melton Mortuary Chapel, Officiated by Chaplain Pete Thompson. Internment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, Beckley. The family will receive friends at 11:00 AM.
