Gladys McCluskey Symonds
On August 18th, 2019, Gladys M. Symonds completed her earthly journey.
Gladys was born on October 8th, 1927, in Himlerville (Beauty) Kentucky to the late Joseph and Helen Kish McCluskey.
She was a resident of Beckley and an employee of Appalachian Regional Hospital for over 30 years. Gladys was an active member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Francis Patrick McCluskey; a son, Harold Leslie Symonds; two daughters, Mary Pat Symonds, and Patricia Davis and a grandson, Matthew Thomas Evans.
Surviving Gladys is two daughters, Linda Walker and her husband, David from Kingwood Texas and Marcia Evans and her husband, Harry from Beckley; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, August 24th at 11:00 am, St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 614 South Oakwood Avenue, Beckley 25801 with the Very Reverend Fr. Paul Wharton V.F. as celebrant. Visitation will be one hour prior to the mass. The Rite of Committal will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery at Sunset Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
