Irene Mary Hall, 92, of Shady Spring went home to be with the lord on Saturday November 2, 2019.
Irene was born June 2, 1927 in Minersville, PA, the only child of the late George Harold Hazara and the late Helen Prebula Hazara. She spent her childhood in Minersville graduating from Minersville High School before coming to West Virginia in 1948 to settle in Shady Spring. She married Howard Hall on October 26, 1946, together they owned Hall Furniture. They were married for 30 years until Howard passed in 1976.
Irene also worked early in her life at the local Beckley restaurants, Bennett’s and the Ramada Inn, where she was a waitress for 19 years. She also worked at Value City for several years and the Salvation Army. Irene also had a special place for her beloved dog, Chopper.
Irene was an active member of the First Baptist Church, the church circle, she was the past president of the Beckley Garden Club, a Boy Scout den mother, as well as volunteering at the VA Hospital and the Raleigh County Commission on Aging.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents; George Harold Hazara and Helen Prebula Hazara, her husband Howard E Hall, and a son, Eddie Hall.
Those left to remember Irene are her daughter; Kay Hall of Cool Ridge, a son; George Hall of Beckley, grandchildren; Katherine Miner (Adolph) of Smithville, TN and Nicholas Garten of Meadow Creek, WV, great grandchildren; Tyler Snyder of Murfreesboro, TN, Kailey Vest of Beckley, WV, and Cameron.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the Raleigh County Community Action Association and the Women’s Resource Center of Glen White.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Thursday November 7, 2019 at the Melton Mortuary Chapel. Friends may call from 12 noon until time of service of Thursday. Entombment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens in Beckley.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Women’s Resource Center and the Humane Society of Raleigh County.
