James Ernest “Hardrock” Murdock
James Ernest “Hardrock” Murdock, 53 of Dameron, passed away on December 1st, 2019.
He was born on September 26th, 1966 to Shirley and Dorothy Murdock in Cleveland, Ohio.
James was married to Tammy Muncey, to whom he shared 35 amazing years.
He was an amazing father to Jamie, Steven, and Melissa and a wonderful and loving grandfather to his eight grandchildren: Hunter, Abigail, Skylar, Kenleigh, Braylon, Avery, Jameson and Adeline.
James worked as plant foreman at Elk Run and Marfork Coal Company. He was always there for his co-workers who were like a second family to him.
An avid fisherman, he loved to fish for trout, catfish and bass. James also enjoyed learning and taking up the skill of hunting deer.
James could be found listening to music, sitting by a fire, spending time with his family or making someone laugh with his goofy sense of humor.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his brother, Robert.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Tammy and their children, Jamie Murdock and his wife, Samantha; Steven Murdock and his wife, Sarah; Melissa Cunningham and her husband, Austin; sister, Sandra Gollihue and her companion, Rick; brother, Larry Murdock and wife, Tina; sister, Rose Pugh and her husband, Alan; uncle, Charles Wiseman and his wife, Susan and brother-in-law, Earl Muncey; also his eight grandchildren, four nieces, two nephews; along with many cousins, uncles, aunts, co-workers and friends.
James was adored by all those who knew him and he was loved far more than he could have ever imagined.
Funeral services will be Friday, December 6th at 1:00 pm in the Melton Mortuary Chapel. The burial will follow in the Murdock Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6 to 8pm at the mortuary and one hour prior to the services on Friday.
