Joyce "Cis" Kilmer (Wilcox) Samoriga

Joyce “Cis” Kilmer (Wilcox) Samoriga, 85, of Beckley, WV was reunited with the Lord on June 27th, 2019 after a battle with prolonged illness.

Born July 13, 1933 in Wyco, she was the daughter of the late, John and Nona Lee (Morefield) Wilcox.

She was preceded in death by husband Eugene Paul Samoriga, son Eugene Paul Samoriga Jr., and brothers Ivan, John “Toots”, Alvin “Buddy”, Cleo, and Bill Wilcox.

She will be eternally remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, devout Christian, and community organizer for Wyco, WV reunions.  Graduate of McMillian School of Nursing, Joyce served in the United States Army for two years as a registered nurse and First Lieutenant where she met her husband, becoming one of the first married commissioned officer nursing teams.  She later worked as a private duty nurse and also for Wyoming County Schools as a nurse for the special education population.  She organized the Wyco Reunion for many years, bringing together family and childhood friends. Joyce attended Pikeview Christian Church since 2008, greatly enjoying the fellowship and support she received.

She is survived by her brother Ralph and sister-in-law Claudine, sisters-in-law, Carolyn, Ellen and Carol, daughter Tami, granddaughter Tiniza, adopted daughter Iris, granddaughter Jessi, great-granddaughter Jadyn, and many nieces and nephews, and a host of close cherished friends.

Visitation will be on Saturday June 29th 2019 from 12-2PM.  The funeral will follow at 2PM with burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
