Jean Porter Nutter
“Tis love that calls us home at the close of the day.” On Wednesday, February 6th, 2019 our most cherished Jean Nutter took her final journey peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family.
Jean left this life to go to her eternal home in the kingdom of our heavenly Lord. She was 83 years young.
One of two daughters, Thelma Jean Porter was born on July 19th, 1935. Her parents were the late West Virginia State Senator, George Clair “Spotsy” Porter and Thelma Burkett Porter. Jean is the dear sister of Norma Ilene Porter Hamilton.
When we recall Jean it will always be with a smile. ..because she always had one. Jean’s life was filled with great challenges. She would bury two children, a daughter, Karen and a son, Porter James Nutter. Her beloved husband, Lonnie died would also early in life as well. But Jean always kept the faith and looked at life in a positive way, and now….”Oh Glad Reunion.”
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving daughters, Becky Jean Nutter and grandson, Preston and Janice Kay Andersen and son in-law, Olaf Andersen with whom she made her home with in Marietta, Georgia along with their children, Olaf and Ella Andersen; she was the sweet aunt of Robert H. Hamilton and niece, Kay H. Mustard-Lange; many great nieces and nephews. Jean was also preceded in death by her niece, Frances Hamilton Snuffer. Frances husband, Randy survives.
Jean lived a full and rewarding life. She loved her family and friends unconditionally .... She loved being active and she was so passionate about bowling with her friends and team.
This Friday, February 15th at 2:00 pm there will be a “Service of Remembrance” for Jean in the Melton Mortuary Chapel. Jean’s nephew, Ryan Snuffer will be officiating. Jean will be laid to rest in the family plot at Sunset Memorial Park.
It is most fitting that Jean would be buried near Valentine’s Day, as her heart was always filled with love. We loved you Jean but God loved you best.
