Virginia Mae Slavey

Virginia Mae Slavey, 74, of Mabscott went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 11th, 2020 following a long illness. Born March 12th, 1945 in Corrine WV she is the daughter of the late Luther I. Sizemore and Dana Blankenship Sizemore Slavey.

Mrs. Slavey was a member of the Free and Independent Holiness Church in Beckley. Virginia volunteered at Pine Lodge in Beckley.  She was a homemaker who loved to read her Bible and crochet as well as fish and hunt.

She was preceded in death by; her husband, Wiley P. Slavey on Dec. 11, 2000, as well as four brothers, Frank, Charles, and Gid and David Sizemore.

She is survived by; two daughters, Melissa Denny and husband William of Beckley, Evelyn Plumley and husband Michael of Beckley,  Michael Slavey and Sherry Slavey both of NY, grandchildren, David and Dusty Slavey of NY, Tearra and Morgan Slavey of NY, Brittany Nichols and husband Joe of Charleston, William Denny Jr. and wife Brittany of Bradley, Kaitlynn Angle of Sophia, Jacob Angle of Beckley, great-grandchildren, Eli Nichols, Kody Angle. Two brothers; Robert Sizemore and wife Karen, and Ronnie Sizemore and wife Sissy, three sisters, Mary Lopez, Carol Bragg and husband Wilbert, and Edna Beverly, a special friend Linzie Mote and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held 1 pm Friday, January 17th, 2020 at the Melton Mortuary Chapel in Beckley with Bishop Ernest Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 11 am until time of service on Friday.
