Wavalene Wood

Wavalene Shaver Wood 84 of Beckley, passed away on Wednesday, October 16th, 2019

Wavalene was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Alvin L. Wood who she was fiercely devoted to.

Also preceded in death by a sister Wilma M. Munsey and brother William W. Shaver.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sisters Wanda Bailey of Maryland, Marcene Cook of Florida, Zelma Knippenberg of Florida and sister-in-law Theodosia Estep of West Virginia. She also had a number of nieces and nephews who will miss her.

Wavalane liked to travel by RV with her husband and was especially fond of Myrtle Beach SC. Though Wavalene and Alvin never had children of their own, they had many dogs over the years who were a great source of joy to them.

She loved her home and enjoyed feeding the birds. She worked over 30 years in the office for the Universal Corporation.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 23rd at 1:00 pm in the Melton Mortuary Chapel.  Burial will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Prosperity.
