Bill Arthur, 88, of Daniels, WV took a walk to enjoy nature’s bounty on Saturday, November 2nd, 2019 and found the path to heaven.
Bill is survived by his wife of 63 years, Doris. Together they have 3 children: Cathy Bennett, who met Bill at Heaven’s gate to welcome him, Steve (Debbie) Arthur of Daniels and Becky Oakley of Charleston. He has five grandchildren, Nikki (Phil) Akers, Beth (Eric) Serdoz, Michael Oakley, Ryan (SaCelia) Arthur, and Matt Oakley. Bill is also survived by two God-son’s: Ed and Todd Perry.
Bill was born in 1930 in Wickham,WV to Guide and Zettie (Dawson)Arthur.He served in the United States Navy from 1949-1953 aboard the USS Macon. In 1956, Bill graduated from the WV State Police Academy as a WV State Trooper. Bill faithfully served the department for 31 years and retired in 1986. He then began service with the United States Marshall Service and served as court security in the Federal Courthouse in Beckley, WV for seven years. He spent the remainder of his blessed life with his beautiful wife Doris, traveling the country, working his gardens, hunting, and enjoying his grandchildren.
Bill was a dedicated member of the Oak Grove Christian Church and attended regularly. Bill was a mason and a member of the Eastern Star. Bill was a wonderful man with a deep kindness for all and he will be missed by many. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Wednesday at the Melton Mortuary Chapel with John Whittman officiating. Entombment will follow in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Prosperity. Friends may call from 10 A.M. until time of service on Wednesday. Family will serve as pallbearers.
