Albert Cantley Jr. went to be with the Lord on March 27, 2021. He died at home after a long battle with cancer. He was surrounded by many loved ones.
He was born at home on May 28, 1943. Albert is preceded in death by his father Albert Cantley Sr.; mother Stella Myrtle Cantley of Lick Water, WV; wives Lottie Brown of Dry Creek, WV, Glenda “Sissy” Burgess of Posey, Saxon, Linda Sue Clay of Sundial; sisters Linda and Sybil Cantley both of Montcoal, WV, Rosa Cox of Arnett, WV, Ardella Hatmaker of Powell, TN; brothers Leonard Cantley of Drews Creek, WV; Dewey Cantley of Arnett, Danny Cantley of Mattsville, WV; daughter Laurie Sue Cantley of Naoma; step-son Leon Burgess of Naoma; and also a very special grandson Mark Anthony Cantley of Naoma, WV.
Albert is survived by his wife Virginia Cantley of Naoma; brothers Jerry Cantley of Naoma, Dennis Cantley of Rock Creek; sisters Patsy Cook of Posey Saxon, Judith Cantley of Powell, TN; children Kenneth Cantley Jr.; James Frank Cantley both of Naoma Arthur Cantley of Whitesville, Dee Hagar of Danville, WV, Susan Burdette of Dry Creek, Janet Pritchard of Claremont, NC; step-children Angela Cook of Naoma, Leonna Essary of Glen Daniel, Allen Daniels of Peach Tree, WV, Gary Daniels of Rock Creek, Regina Daniels, Barbara Mullens of Fairdale; 27 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Albert, in his younger years, loved to take care and serve others. He enjoyed delivering food and firewood to those who were less fortunate and couldn’t get out and about during the winter months. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and cutting firewood. He was a much loved kind soul who will never be forgotten.
A funeral service celebrating Albert’s life will be held on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at 1:30 pm at the Melton Mortuary and Cremation Center Chapel. The family will receive friends for visitation from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm prior to the service. Interment will follow services at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
