Allen Mahaffey Obituary

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Allen Ray Mahaffey, 76, on June 7, 2021 at his home in Mount Hope, WV.
Born on July 27, 1944, he was raised and lived the majority of his life on his family's land that he loved and cherished. He held close to his heart and talked often about the memories that were made there throughout the years.
He is preceded in death by his father Henry Mahaffey; mother Flossie Mahaffey; sister Barbara Sue Mahaffey White; and brother William "Bill" Mahaffey.
He is survived by wife Gina Mahaffey of 36 years; son Allen Mahaffey and wife Ashley; daughter Cassie Norkevitz and husband Joey; son Gregory Mahaffey and his wife Sandy; 4 grandchildren Seth Norkevitz and wife Sharon, Sarah Rice and husband Cody, Sophia Mahaffey, and Jackson Mahaffey; and two great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by brother-in-law Lanty White; sister-in-law Sharon Mahaffey, and a host of nieces and nephews who he loved dearly.
Allen graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1963. He explored various careers, but found his passion and excelled as an insurance salesman. If you knew Allen, you knew his knack for sales, he could sell ice to an eskimo. Allen worked for several different companies in that field, but later founded United Benefits. Over the years, Allen built and maintained lifelong business and personal friendships.
Allen was one of a kind, he was a wonderful man with a smile that could light up the room.  He had a kind and genuine heart, he would give you the shirt off of his back and would help anyone he could.  He always had a story to tell and advice to give. He loved his family more than anything and enjoyed spending time with his son Allen.  His grandchildren meant everything to him and he loved watching them grow.
Allen was a mover and loved to wheel and deal. In his spare time he loved to browse the car lots, shop the local flea markets & consignment shops for deals, and to laugh and carry on with his friends.  He never met a stranger. He had a passion for cars & music. Elvis was his favorite and it would be almost impossible to list the cars he owned in his lifetime.  He was famous for being a sharp dresser and his love of shoes.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, July 3, 2021 at the Melton Mortuary Chapel. Family and friends may gather from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.  Words of comfort may be offered to the family by visiting www.meltonmortuary.com  Melton Mortuary and Cremation Center have been entrusted with cremation arrangements.
