Amelia Shunk

Amelia Shunk, 88 of Beckley passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and friends at the Bowers Hospice House on January 14,2021. Born February 28,1932 in Charleston; she was a life long resident of Eccles Wv, she had a masters degree in education and she taught school in Raleigh County for 33 years. She was the daughter of the late Mike and Grace Petros. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Harry James Shunk sr, and her sister Marjorie Middaugh. Those left to cherish her memory include Jim and Sharon Shunk of Denver Colorado, David and Cheryln Taraczkozy of Beckley WV, and Mike and Shari Shunk of Morgantown, WV. Her grandchildren JD,Suzanne,Alexis, Kristen, and Olivia. Her great grandchildren James, McKinley, Kennedy, Harper, Sawyer, Miles, Henry and Sam. Special thanks to niece Miriam Smith and son Steve and her exceptional caregiver and friend Nancy Pugh. The family would like the thank the staff at Fresenius Kidney Care in Beckley, Doctor Pittsenbarger, Dr Kabbara, Dr Suleiman, the staff of Raleigh General hospital and her close friends at Jan Care Ambulance for their care and support through the years. Private services will be held with Pastor Gary Hall officiating.
