Bane Edward Sarrett, 76, of Beckley, WV passed away on Friday April 2, 2021. Born on June 16, 1944 in Beckley he was the son of the late Lunda and Norma Jean (Songer) Sarrett.
Bane was a retired real estate appraiser for Sarrett Appraisal Services. He was a 1962 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School where he was a member of the Woodrow Football and Basketball Hall of Fame. In 1962 he was the leading scorer on the only team to ever have an undefeated basketball season for Woodrow Wilson, captured a state title and was the WV State Player of the Year. He went on to star at Western Kentucky and Furman University in basketball where he was known for his outside shooting and obtained an education degree. He began his career as a teacher and a coach at Clear Fork High School where he met his wife Judy.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother Lunda Calvin (LC) Sarrett Jr. who passed in 1968. He is survived by his wife Judy Sarrett of 51 years, sons Shane Sarrett of Beckley, Chad (Street) and wife Michele of Beckley, Shaun and wife Amy of Los Angeles, California, three granddaughters Madeline, Mackenzie and Macy Sarrett, all of Beckley, and sister-in-law Nancy McVey of Dorothy.
Bane’s pride and joy was his three sons, Shane, who worked alongside him daily in the family appraisal business, Street who coaches football at his alma mater Beckley, and Shaun who coaches in the NFL.
A memorial service will be held to Celebrate the Life of Bane Sarrett on Friday, April 9, 2021 at 1 pm at Melton Mortuary, Inc. Friends may visit with family from 11-1 prior to the services.
