Benjamin Lee Cox Obituary

Benjamin "Benji" Lee Cox, Sr age 51 died at RGH following a long and courageous battle with cancer on March 14th, 2026 surrounded by his "little big sis", Jennifer.

Benji lived boldly and freely, loving fast cars, beautiful women, and the thrill of the open road. He had a wild spirit, a big personality and a way of making life an adventure. Benji had recently given his heart to christ and found a deeper peace and purpose. His journey in life reminds us that gods grace reaches us wherever we are.

Benji is preceded in death by his parents, Wayne E. Cox and Carolyn Cantley; and two brothers, Donald R Cox and David W Cox.

He is survived by his children, Alexius Cox, Benjamin Cox, Andrew Cox, and Hannah Shelton; grandchild; Alaska Cox; bonus parents, Dennis Cantley and Kathy Walters; sisters and brothers; Jennifer (Jay) McClure, Crystal Bailey, Tina Bradford, Tammy Cantley, Mae Tompkins, Brandon Cantley, and Dennis "Spud" Cantley.

Benji is survived by many nieces and nephews with special love to David "Sam" Cox, Travis Cantley, Brooklynn McClure, and extra special great nephews, Jeremiah and Elijah.

Benji is also survived in death by two special women that loved him unconditionally, Rebecca "Becky" Webb and Lawanda Smith.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no services at this time. A Celebration of Benji's life will be held at a later date. Melton Mortuary has the honor of taking care of his family. Messages of support and condolences can be left on Benji's obituary page on the Melton Mortuary website.
