Bertia Arellanos Obituary

Bertia Elaine Arellanos (Hypes), 54, of Hotchkiss departed this world on December 26th, 2019. She was born in Seaford, Delaware on April 15th, 1965, but spent her life in West Virginia. She graduated from Mullens High School and then attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. Bertia was always such a talented artist with pieces of her work still hanging in what was once Mullens High School but is now Mullens Middle School.

She then later attended Nursing School where she found what she was born to do. While in the nursing field, Bertia touched not only the lives of her patients but also the lives of her coworkers. Many of them personally have thanked her for pushing them to go back to school and further their medical education while others have thanked her for their success in their nursing career.

Bertia will be remembered for her love of music, art, and history. She will be remembered for her brilliance in the nursing field, her extraordinary artistic abilities, and her love for her family. Bertia truly could find the beauty in any situation and make it even more special. Her smile and infectious laugh will be truly missed.

Bertia is survived by both her mother, her very best friend, Rachel Billings Hypes and her father, Peter Hypes both of Hotchikiss, WV. Her 3 daughters who she was incredibly proud of: Evangeline Tiede of Summersville, WV, Rachel and Marissa Arellanos both of Hotchikiss, WV. Her 2 grandchildren who she loved more than life itself: Paisley Sumpter and Jesom Culver. Her beloved siblings, Peter Hypes JR and his 4 children: Karlee, Tre, Tegan, and Kenzley Hypes. Elizabeth Hypes and her 3 children: Priscilla Raines, Michael, and Makayla King. Derrick Hypes and his 3 children: Andrea, Derrick, and Alli Jo Hypes.
