Betty Lou Crawford of Coal City, WV died Thursday, July 2nd, 2020 at her home following a long illness. Born February 13th, 1939 in Accoville, WV she is the daughter of the late Denver and Virgie Franklin.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Jack Crawford, her brothers Denver Franklin Jr., Willard Franklin, and Emory Franklin and one sister, Dolly Chandler.
Betty is survived by her brothers Luther Franklin of Fort Walton Beach, FL and Johnny Franklin and his wife Sue of Fayetteville, NC as well as by her sisters Bonnie Scott and her husband Ronnie of Brooklyn, OH, Joyce Laws and her husband Bill of Amherstdale, WV, and Dorothy Lewis and her husband Kenneth of Chapmanville, WV. She is also survived by her six children, James Smith of St. Marys, WV, Howard Smith of Coal City, WV, Edward Smith and his wife, Lesia of Sophia, WV, Beverly Zobel of Coal City, WV, Charlene Plymale and her husband Brent of Huntington, WV, and Donna Lilly and her husband Mark of Clear Creek, WV. Finally, Betty was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff and especially Dr. Herbert Oye and Mrs. Oye of West Virginia Vascular Institute for the many years of devoted care for our mother as well as the wonderful nurses from the Hospice of Southern West Virginia for their compassionate and excellent care provided in her home in her final days.
Friends may call on the family at Melton Mortuary at 1200 Harper Road in Beckley, WV on Tuesday, July 7th, 2020 from 11 AM to 1 PM with the service being officiated by Pastor Arlotte Stover at 1 PM. The graveside service will be held at 3 PM at the Pineview Cemetery & Mausoleum in Orgas, WV.
