Brenda Webb Obituary

Brenda Sue Webb, 71, of Sophia, WV., passed away at her home on Tuesday, November 7th, 2023.

She is preceded in death by her parents Bill Linkous Sr. and Lola McCoy Linkous, best friends Margene Arbogast and Debbie Blevins, and her precious dog Kavita.

Brenda was born on March 23rd, 1952. She grew up in Tams with her loving family where she spent her days playing baseball, walking the train tracks with her best friend Patsy, and searching for places to swim. As an adult she continued to treasure closeness and community and brought that attitude into every situation. In addition to raising her daughter, she could often be found mothering her nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Outside of the home, Brenda worked for two decades as a CNA at Raleigh General Hospital. Anyone who knew her could not help but see how much joy she received from offering love and care to her patients. Brenda was also very active in her church (Bible Wesleyan in Crab Orchard), and often coordinated fundraisers for its Christian School.

In her spare time Brenda loved cooking (she was famous for her cornbread), caring for her house plants and outside flowers, and having long conversations with her loved ones. She was also an avid reader - a passion she developed in her thirties. She was especially fond of historical fiction novels, biographies, and nonfiction books about the British Monarchy. Her love for stories could also be seen in her love for classic black & white cinema and her own skill in storytelling. Outgoing and friendly, Brenda never met a stranger and never encountered a situation where she wasn't able to offer comfort and leave the other person with a smile. Her sense of humor was unmatched and was truly a gift to those who knew her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her devoted husband and caregiver, Lloyd Webb, daughter Loretta Webb and partner James Conway, siblings Bill Linkous, Jackie Linkous, Donna Fruia, Debra Meadows, Kenny Ray Linkous, nephew William Linkous III (Linda), niece and namesake Brenda Wriston (Lee), nephews Jimmie Meadows and David Meadows, great nephews Michael Linkous and Andrew Woodie, great nieces Felicia Robertson and Danielle Woodie, and great-great niece Sarah Armistead, sisters-in-law Ruth Cochran and Dorothy Passaneti, brother-in-law Billy Webb, and beloved friends Regina Allen and Lisa Webb Lilly.

When remembering Brenda's life, her daughter would ask that you remember her contagious smile and take comfort in one of her mother's favorite poems by William Wordsworth.

Though nothing can bring back the hour
Of splendor in the grass, of glory in the flower;
We will grieve not, rather find
Strength in what remains behind.
