Buddy Robert Mooney, 86 of Naoma, WV slipped away peacefully from his earthly home, on Thursday, February 27th, 2025, to enter into his eternal home.

He was born January 4th, 1939 to the late Mildred, and William Presley Mooney. Buddy loved the outdoors: dirt track racing, gardening, fishing, camping, traveling, and spending time with his family. Before his retirement, he was a heavy equipment operator, truck driver, and a coal miner. However he held many titles including carpenter, and mechanic. His greatest joy was attending church, and worshiping his Savior, Jesus Christ. He attended Dameron Church, often testifying of the many miracles he had received. Within the legacy he leaves behind, many can recall his willingness to help others, and the hard work ethic he began at a young age.

In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Ennis, and Peggy Wills, a brother Jim Jarrell, a son in law Paul McCoy, a daughter Taresa Godfrey, and one of his dear friends Jack Miller.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 61 years Violet(Turner) Mooney, sons Larry, and Mike George, and Robert Mooney all of Beckley, WV, a daughter Nancy McCoy of Naoma, WV, a sister, Nancy Allen of North Carolina, twelve grandchildren; Beth(David), Jason, Christopher, Miranda, Brandon(Angie), Bobby(Deidre), Briana(Jacob), and Luke, eight great-grandchildren, Deandre, Isaac, Jacob, Lilliana, Mason, Kana, Colt, River, and his close friend and cousin David Keene.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the BARH staff, and to the staff at Bowers Hospice House.

A going home celebration will be held Wednesday, March 12, 2025 in the Melton Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Ronnie Hall officiating. A Visitation will be held beginning at 1:00 pm and the Funeral Service will follow beginning at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow in the Turner Cemetery in Drew's Creek, WV. Friends and Family will serve as pallbearers.
