Carl Dutra

Carl Dutra, age 64, of Flat Top, WV died February 14, 2020 at Raleigh General Hospital after a short, courageous battle with cancer.

Born March 11, 1955 in Vineland, NJ, he was the son of Frances Maniscalco Dutra and the late John Joseph Dutra Sr. 

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 36 years, Cindy Lilly Dutra and children; Terry Dutra and wife, Darby of Florida; grandchildren, Hannah, Quentin, Danielle, and Piper; Stephanie Burkhart and husband, Elijah of Missouri, grandchildren, Ahava, Myer, Kendall and Natalie; Jonathan Dutra of North Carolina, grandchildren Kyler and Madison and Brian McKinney of West Virginia, and grand daughter Kayla; Siblings from New Jersey, brother, John “Chip” Dutra Jr.; sister, Lisa Molinelli and husband, John; brother Thomas Dutra and wife, Sandy; sister, Traceyann Dutra, Brother Jeffrey Dutra and wife, Amy; WV family sister-in-law, Mary Wylie and husband, Robert; brother-in-law David Lilly, brother-in-law, Jason Lilly and wife, Cindi; Eugene and Margaret Lilly, father and mother-in-law; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and extended family.  Special childhood life-long friend, Paul Lanzi and his wife Lynn from Vineland, NJ; Friends Adrian, Screwdriver, Susan, Sandy, C. Gary Dean, Lurch, Donald, Ross, Lynn, Jimmy, Rhonda, and many more.

Carl graduated from Vineland High School in 1973.  He was a retired heavy equipment operator and member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 132 for 42 years.  He was an officer and member of the Southern Brotherhood Motorcycle Club of Camp Creek.

Carl dearly loved all his family and friends. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, playing guitar, and hanging with his friends, traveling, and working on the family farm.  He was of the Catholic Faith.

Viewing and visitation with family will be this Thursday at Melton Mortuary in Beckley from 5-8 PM.  It was Carl’s desire to be cremated and his ashes placed in New Jersey and West Virginia.  Graveside services and encryption of ashes will be held this summer at the Freddie Lilly Cemetery at Flat Top, WV followed by a celebration of life with food and music, and a motorcycle run in his honor.  Details will be announced at a later date.
