Carol Polk Obituary

Carol Sue Crawford Polk went home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 1st, 2023. Born November 5th, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Nora Arabella Crawford.

Carol received her degree in education from Concord University and taught in middle and high schools for the Raleigh County Board of Education until retiring, but her love for teaching and inspiring children continued well past her retirement.

Carol was a member of the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church where she was a member of the Flower Committee, the Ladies Missionary Fellowship, and the church choir. She also served as one of the church's pianists. Carol assisted in several of the children's ministries demonstrating her love for God's Word, and children. Not only did she serve at the church encouraging many, she was also an encouragement to missionaries abroad.

Carol had a personality that would brighten a room, and bring a smile to the faces of all those she met. No matter the circumstance, Carol demonstrated her faith and trust in the Lord by stating "God's got this."

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved son, Alan "Big Al" Polk; brothers Roger Crawford, and James Thomas "J.T." Crawford; and sisters Clela Cox, and Camelia Crawford.

Carol is survived by her husband of 50 years Dennis Polk; brother Robert(Virda) Crawford; sister in law Carolyn Crawford; nephews Thomas Cox, James Crawford and Tom Crawford; nieces Sarah "Dafodil" Toney and Sheila Thomason; great nephews Andrew "The Silver Bullet" Cox, Caleb Crawford, Noah Crawford "The Northern Tidal Wave", Zachary "Big Z' Toney, Brandon Goodman, and Byron Goodman; and, great nieces Natalie "Sparkle" Toney and Kinsley Cox.
