Charles Edward Bolen, age 75, of Bradley, West Virginia, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2024 in Charleston, West Virginia.
Charles was born May 30, 1948 in Jonben, West Virginia, a son of Woodrow and Virginia Mae (Hylton) Bolen. He married the love of his life, Shirley Dianne Bolen (Smith) in July of 1988. Charles was raised in Jonben and for the past 32 years, lived in Bradley. Charles work as a mechanic for Little Valley RV. He loved life and found great joy in the company of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who lovingly called him Pawpaw. Charles found solitude on his farm spending time gardening and working on his tractor upon the property. He was a hopeful gardner having always buying hundreds of seeds to watch them grow. His Saturday routine typically involved going to many flea markets to find the best deals and the next person who could bargain the best. His niche was looking and buying tools to add to his collections.
He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Shirley D. (Smith) Bolen; step-son Stacy (Lori) Johnson of Crab Orchard; grandchildren Anthony Johnson and his companion April McKinney of Beckley, and Erica Johnson of Beckley; great-grandchildren Kasen, Annabel, and Liam all of Beckley; sister Phyllis Mustafo of Beckley; three brothers Roger and Debbie Bolen of Beckley, Thomas Bolen of Coal City, and Dwayne Bolen of Jonben; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; and friends who will miss him dearly. Along with his parents, Charles is preceded in death by his sister Della Lilly and his brothers Bobby, Eddie, and Dale Bolen.
Visitation will be from11 am - 1 pm on Monday, January 15th, 2024. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 1 pm with Pastor Randall Brickey officiating. Entombment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
