Charles "Fruit Bat" Dwayne Millsaps, age 57, of Sophia, West Virginia, passed away suddenly on Friday, January 30, 2026 after a battle with short illness.

Charles was born February 20, 1968 in Beckley, West Virginia, a son of J. "Russell" and Martha Jo Millsaps. Charles was a father to 4 children that he loved.

Charles was someone who never knew a stranger. If he had not met you yet, he was sure to meet you soon and become good friends with you. Charles would always be greeted with many "Hey"s and "How're you doing" when he was out and about that usually put any errands on hold. Charles was someone that many people loved deeply and his friendly disposition will be greatly missed.

Charles loved the outdoors. You could find him fishing and hunting at any chance he got. There wasn't a day that could be made better by being outdoors enjoying his time.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Martha Millsaps and brother, J. "Toby" Luther Millsaps.

He is survived by his children, Russell Millsaps, Nick MIllsaps, Courtney Meador (Jesse Johnson), and Stevie Parker; siblings, Jessie "Sissy" (Ike) Graham, Ruby (Doug) King, Mary (Michael) Manzano, and Ernest R. Millsaps; grandchildren, Skylah and Kensleigh; and several nieces, nephews, family, and friends will miss him.

In accordance with Charles' wishes, he will be cremated at a later date. Expressions of sympathy and condolences may be shared with the family on the Melton Mortuary website.
