Charles Jacob Slimmer

Charles Jacob Slimmer, 77 of Packs Branch, West Virginia went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 in Beckley, WV.

He was born on December 18, 1943 in Millville, New Jersey to the late Owen and Agnes Louise (Wrights) Slimmer.

Charles is preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Gloria Mae (Williams) Slimmer; step-son Johnny Crawford; parents Owen and Agnes Slimmer; and brothers and sisters.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his daughter Lisa Slimmer Pharo; step-sons Harvey and Dwayne Crawford; grandchildren Bethany Pharo, Owen Slimmer, Hayley Crawford, Amanda Crawford, and Samantha “Sambo” Crawford; several step-great-grandchildren; niece Tammi Williams; and many extended family and friends who will miss him.

Charles was a man of faith who was very active in church and teaching Sunday School.  He enjoyed working with his hands in woodworking and remodeling.  In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing and shooting guns with his nephews and friends.  He was a kind and gentle man who took care of his family.  He loved his wife Gloria, they worked tirelessly caring and loving each other no matter what. 

The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, February 26, 2021 from 11 am – 1 pm at Long Branch Methodist Church.  A funeral service will begin at 1 pm with interment to follow at Williams Algerbright Cemetery, Packs Branch, WV.
