Charles William (C.W.) Smith, 47 of Beckley was found at his home on May 15th, 2020. Born March 29th, 1973 in Beckley he was the son of the late Clyde Charles and Pauline Prater Smith.

C.W. was a Drummer with the band Dreadnaught and was a Recording Artist with Gamma Records. In addition to his music career C.W. was a Journeyman Drywall Finisher. He was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and has studied at the Raleigh County Vocational and Technical Center.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by; two sisters, Georgia Prater Scott, and Gleada Prater Thompson, and one brother, Gary Wayne Prater.

C.W. is survived; his sister, Gaylola Prater Blevins of Beckley, two brothers Glen W. Prater Sr. and wife JoAnn of Coal City, and Jerry P. Prater and wife Reba Kay of Beckley.

Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

At C.W. request there will not be a public memorial service.
