Claude Raye Obituary
Claude Raye Jr.75 went to be with the Lord on October 21, 2023 after battling a long illness. Born on July 18, 1948 on Bud Mountain in Wyoming County, WV to the late Claude Raye Sr. and Edna (Colbird) Raye.
In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by his loving wife Ellen Ruth (Shrewsbury) Raye, and sister Jill(Raye) Tolliver.
Claude is survived his four children, Claude Raye III(Kim), Shelly Blackburn(Jeff), Teresa Raye, and Gregory L. Moore Jr., four grandchildren DJ Duty, Brittany Caron, Carli Raye, and Jadin Clay, three great grandchildren Garrett McMillion, Braydon McMillion, and Camdon McMillion, sisters Barbara Sizemore, Mini Pearl Lester, Wanda Sizemore, Ginger Darnell, Elvie Mullins, Penny Raye, brother George Raye, and many other nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will all miss Claude dearly.
Claude served in the US Army for eight years, serving multiple tours in different theaters. He was a veteran and survivor of the Vietnam War serving with the Fourth Infantry Division. He was an avid fisherman, and hunter. Family was everything to him and he cherished the time he got to spend with his family and friends, playing bingo and cards.
The family would like to offer special thanks to the Hospice Department and Doctors at the Beckley VA Medical Center.
In keeping with Claude's wishes, arrangements have been entrusted to Melton Mortuary and Cremation Center who are honored to serve the family during this difficult time.
