Clela Jane Cox

Clela Jane Cox, 79 of Mabscott WV went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 27th, 2019 at the home of her son following a long illness. Born January 8th, 1940 in Affinity WV she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Nora Crawford.

Clela was a member of the First Christian Church in Beckley where she was a Deacon and member of the Church Choir. She worked in the medical records department of Beckley Hospital and Raleigh General Hospital. She enjoyed quilting, baking and spending time with her grandson Andrew and cheering for her favorite team “Mabscott”.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Howard Cox on 26th day of January 2015. Two brothers; Roger and J.T. Crawford, and infant sister, Camelia Crawford, and her nephew, Alan Crawford Polk.

She is survived by her son, Thomas Cox and wife Pauline of Midway, one grandson Andrew and his wife Alexis of Mabscott, one Brother Robert and Virda Crawford of Beckley, and one sister Carol and Dennis Polk of Beckley, two sister-in-law’s, Carolyn Crawford of Maryville TN, and Janice Maynard of Beckley, her good friends, Maxine Donell, Rebecca Hughes, and Rebecca Fowler and those who mom thought of as grandchildren Payton Fowler, Mary Ford, and Deidre Mooney as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins that also survive.

Funeral service will be held at 1 pm Friday January 3rd, 2020 at the Melton Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Don Snyder officiating. Burial will follow in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Beckley. Friends may call from 11 am until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be; Thomas Cox, Andrew Cox, Robert Hinkle, James Crawford, Jerry Todd, and Jesse Brown.
