Clyde Dempsey McKnight Sr, age 98, of Rock Creek, West Virginia, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2026 at his home after a battle with illness surrounded by his loved ones.

Clyde was born September 24, 1927 in Eunice, West Virginia, a son of Austin and Victoria McKnight. He married Ethel Cantley and they spent 70 wonderful years together before her passing in 2024.

Clyde is preceded in death by his wife; parents; 10 of his siblings; and daughter, Mary Frances Stokes.

Those left to honor Clyde's memory are his children, Clyde (Cheryl) Mcknight Jr, Karen Ann Shuster, Lawrence ("Sissy") McKnight, and Gary McKnight; brothers, Austin "Jr" (Anita) McKnight Jr and Billy (Monica) McKnight; 53 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and other nieces, nephews, family members, and friends who will love and miss him.

In honor of his wishes, Clyde will be cremated and no services will be held at this time. Clyde's ashes will be buried with his wife, Ethel, in Miller Cemetery at Rock Creek, WV.
