Mr. Darell Keith Carter "Paddlefoot" 68 of Beckley, West Virginia, was called to the "big rig" in the sky on December 10th, 2024. Born on February 13th, 1956, he was the son of the late Ted and Mildred Carter of Prince, West Virginia.

In addition to his parents Darell is greeted on that heavenly highway by his brothers Terry and his wife Margie, Roy, and sister Lena and her husband Bill.

Those left behind to forever hold and cherish his memory and await a glad reunion are his wife and soul mate of 48 years Joyce Kay Carter, sons Justin(Rena) Carter, and Jason Carter both of Beckley, very special sister Sue Watkins(Don) of Beckley, sister in law Trudy of Utah, and brother Jay of Illinois, grandson Corbin who affectionately called Darell "Pops", and many other nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends who will all miss Darell dearly.

Darell was a hardworking man, truly living out the song "Roll On" by Alabama in his trade of over the road truck driving, he enjoyed spending time with and providing for the family he loved so dear. He also enjoyed tinkering on classic cars in the time that he wasn't working to provide for his family. He could also be seen at local car shows admiring the classics especially the Studebaker Golden Hawk, his favorite car.

Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Melton Mortuary and Cremation Center who are honored to serve the family during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to the CAMC Carl Larson Cancer Center. A celebration of life will be announced at a later time.
