Darrell Haney Obituary
Mr. Darrell R. Haney Jr. passed away at home on January 29, 2025. He was born on September 20,1959 in Ashland, Kentucky to the late Darrell R. Haney Sr. and Margaret Haney(Hood). He was preceded in death by: his parents, son, Darrell R. Haney III and brother, Gary Haney.
Darrell graduated from Boyd County High School and then briefly attended college. He quickly decided that wasn't the life for him and he wanted to be out there getting his hands dirty. Darrell was a jack of all trades and was not the least bit scared to do whatever it took to take care of his family. He has worked as a coal miner, truck driver, mobile home mover, junk hauler, owner of a mobile home moving business, postal carrier the list goes on. The jobs may have changed, but his hard-working work ethic stayed the same.
When he wasn't working, he loved visiting and spending time with his loved ones. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, going on long car rides just to view and enjoy nature, watching old movies, working on his vehicles and going to the races.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Linda "Lynn" Haney of 32 years; two daughters: Tiffany J.(Jackie) Woods and children of Beckley, WV; Veronica Cobble of Beckley, WV; one stepdaughter: Chloé Philip of Beckley, WV; seven grandchildren: Levi and Lexi Haney of Beckley, WV; Jaxon Lough of Beckley,WV; Chris and Caleb Staunton of Charlotte, NC ; stepmother: Linda Haney of Whitesville, WV; five siblings: Tim Haney of Key West, FL; Reedia Haney(Jimmy Coleman) of Ashland, KY; Bruce Haney of Whitesville, WV; Michael(April) Haney of Beckley, WV and Robert Hood of Tampa,FL; one stepsister: Diane Williams of Comfort, WV; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
A funeral service will be held at the Melton Mortuary Chapel on Monday February 10th, 2025 at 3pm with Robert B. Colvin officiating. Friends may visit with the family 2 hours prior to service time.
