On Monday, August 31st, 2020, my loving son, David French went to be with the Lord. David will be
remembered as a kind and special person.
He was born on March 16th, 1965, in Beckley to Cleo Vitsos French with whom he made his home and the late Robert French.
A construction worker, David enjoyed wood working. He was a volunteer at the Ghent Fire
Department, having many friends. He also served as an EMT.
In addition to his mother he is survived by a special friend, Bill Killen; he is the fond brother of Bob and Terry French of Clayton, North Carolina and Steve French of Beckley; David was the beloved nephew of Johnny Vitsos of Helen, Anna Lee Atkins of Beckley and George and Dorothy Vitsos of Myrtle Beach; a niece, BriAnna French and nephew, Caleb French both of Clayton and special cousins, Leslie Policastro of Surfside, South Carolina and Christopher Vitsos of Columbia, South Carolina survive as well.
A “Service of Remembrance” will be held on Tuesday, September 8th at 1:00 pm in the Melton Mortuary Chapel. The Rev. Doc Adkins of First Baptist Church will be officiating. David will be laid to rest in the Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity. The family will be receiving friends at 12 noon. The Ghent Volunteer Fire Department will serve as pallbearers and perform Fireman honors for David.
