On Thursday, April 24th, 2025, our most cherished, Dawson Davis passed away in a Huntington, West Virginia hospital following a brief battle with lung cancer. He was 58 years of age.
The youngest of ten children, Dawson Lyle Davis was born on August 15th, 1966, to the late Owen Earl and Vercie Rollins Davis. His brothers, Robert Earl, Ezra Vernon, Roy Matthew and Steve Wilson Davis have preceded him in death also.
Dawson was a lifelong resident of the Fairdale community. He had worked in fabrication with the mining industry. Dawson was of the Christian faith and loved to fish. He was always out and about with his brothers.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Tasha Bailey; his sister, Mary Nelson and brothers, Gene and his wife Diana, Jimmy, Dorsey and Estil. His sister Mary's husband, Gary Nelson has passed as well as his brother, Estil's wife, Lena. His late brother, Roy's wife Loretta also survives. Dawson leaves his grandchildren, Wilton, Kinsley and Owen. There is a large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends throughout the Fairdale community. His nephews, Estil Davis Jr. and Gene Davis Jr. have passed away as well.
The funeral will be Thursday evening, May 1st at 6:00 pm at the Fairdale Freewill Baptist Church, friends may call after 4:00 pm. Dawson will be laid to rest at the Davis family home place. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
